SoftWave Therapy in Norwood MA

What is the Softwave Technology?

This technology originated in Germany and has been around for 10 years, but only recently did it become available in the United States. It is called Extracorporeal Shock Wave Softwave (ESWT) is the medical literature. It is called this to differentiate it from Ultrasound. Ultrasound may produce either thermal or non-thermal effects in tissues, while ESWT does not result in heating effects.

Softwave Therapy in Norwood MA is unique in that it is the only unfocused shockwave in the marketplace. Unfocused Softwaves disperse energy over a larger area and lead to less pain and faster treatment times.

What is Softwave Therapy in Norwood MA?

SoftWave is a patented non-invasive therapy that uses sound waves for healing. It increases blood flow and promotes natural healing at the cellular level. It can be used to treat all sorts of conditions, from chronic pain to sports injuries to conditions like restless leg and arthritis!
It is also known as Tissue Regeneration Therapy (TRT) or “the stem cell machine.” The device creates unique sound waves (called softwaves) to activate your body’s cellular healing process that:

  • decreases chronic inflammation,
  • increases blood and lymphatic flow,
  • breaks up scar tissue, and
  • most importantly, it activates your latent stem cells.

The TRT can help many tissues, including muscle, tendon, ligament, nerve, fascia, bone, or cartilage mini or micro-tears. That’s the magic of stem cells!

What To Expect During Softwave Therapy Treatment

This technology is diagnostic as well as therapeutic. The Softwaves have a diagnostic capability by generating a pain response only over damaged or inflamed tissue, leading to superior patient outcomes. This allows the damaged area to be pinpointed and to be able to focus treatment on the needed area.

When the softwaves hit healthy tissue, it doesn’t feel like much (there is a “thud” of the wave hitting your body part), but when the waves hit a damaged area, you feel something else. You will feel discomfort, pain, a tingling sensation, or even a shocking sensation, which is the softwave activating your body’s healing process. The diagnostic mapping session allows us to identify the real damaged areas, which can be very specific. The specific damaged tissues send signals to your body to activate the cellular healing process.

Many people notice positive changes immediately, but it depends on the amount of damage, and it depends on working on the most critical damage or causative weak link in the body. The positive effects felt usually are decreased pain and stiffness, increased mobility or range of motion, and a lighter feeling to the body/body part.

TRT sessions can be surprisingly helpful for areas of chronic pain.
It is an excellent service in addition to our chiropractic adjustments, as this can help reduce irritation and restore function to damaged tissues that the nerve system is trying to counterbalance or compensate for.

If there is enough damage, it is very challenging for the nervous system and body to compensate.

The TRT can help the body improve almost any area we find damaged or inflamed tissue. Multiple sessions are typically needed for long-lasting therapeutic effects or the desired full benefit.

Softwave does not remodel bony change from years of chronic stress or restore joint space when the bone is on bone, but it can improve joint motion and less irritation.
