Koren Specific Technique (KST)

KST is a fairly new method developed by Dr. Tedd Koren that  uses the bodies wisdom to guide the process of correcting interference.  Misalignment and interference can be adjusted at many different levels.

The biggest thing people notice about KST is the instrument called an Arthrostim.  It creates tiny pulses that add up.  The impulses can be firm when necessary by most are incredibly gentle.   There is never any twisting, popping, or cracking in this method.  Most people can't believe that something so light can does anything until they get off of the table, but the comment I hear more times than not is "you found find the exact spots that need the help."

KST can be thought of as a whole body technique.  It has protocols to that address not only all the vertebrae i the spine, but also the bones of the skull and face, as well as the arms, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, legs, hips, knees, ankle, feet, ribs.  This allows care to be dynamic and address interference and misalignments that aren't corrected with other more traditional methods.

The analysis can be done standing, sitting, or lying down (either face up or face down).  I used either leg checks or the OD (which is basically a leg check done on the back of the skull.)  Typically in my office is usually done either lying down or sitting up.

One of the amazing parts of this approach is its intuitive nature.  The doctor can ask the body a series of questions and be directly to areas of the body that need help.  This makes it an incredible partner for the other method used in the office NUCCA.

KST can be used as a stand alone method but more often used in combination with the other methods offered at the office.  X-rays are not necessary for this procedure which can be a huge benefit for some people especially small children.

As doctor of chiropractic, my experience is that structured protcols are there for a reason, but flexibility is important because the people that see me don't always fit the structure.  KST gives me the flexible to dig a little deeper and find levels to address the uniqueness of the individual.
